SPOTTED
Meet Brad Ascalon, the award-winning, NYC designer behind The Spot.
Q&A with Brad
Q: What inspiration did you reference when designing the spot?
A: I loved the idea of using elements within the Quiet Town brand as inspiration for this project. The products are so strong graphically, and so playful, I thought that would be a great place to start, by referencing those elements that already exist in some way.
Q: Can you see a logical update to The Spot?
A: Absolutely. I see an infinite number of possibilities with regard to the kinds of storage components we can develop for various rooms/functions. And because we have the system figured out, I can also see that back panel take
form in a variety of ways.
Q: Where are you using the Spot? And what are you putting into it?
A: Right now, I’ve got my Spot hanging right above by my bar cabinet. As a cocktail enthusiast, I thought it was the perfect storage solution for my bar tools, shaker, strainers, muddler and cocktail bitters.
Our Spot
Michael, Brad and I met on the North Fork of Long Island and designed The Spot during heavy pandemic lockdown. While our son Indie mastered the rap "Alphabet Aerobics", our daughter Sunny made cardboard shoes and slime, and Brad’s wife Amy grew a forest of tomatoes, we zoomed with factories, we drew, we tested, we drank wine (a lot of wine) and tinkered with The Spot. Brad’s sleek design sensibility mixed with our slightly off-kilter tone gave birth to this customizable, colorful and playful piece.
