Adrienne Antonson is the designer and owner of State the Label, the Georgia-based clothing label known for its hand-painted fabrics, voluminous shapes and inclusive community. Adrienne and team produce everything in a light-filled studio connected to their shop in Athens. It’s a treat to watch Adrienne hand-paint one of her pieces in time-lapse on the brand's Instagram account--slow fashion in hyper speed.
“I've made clothing since I was in 5th grade and making art since my earliest memories. I've had some version of a clothing company since I was 22, and don't plan on ever stopping! If I'm not making clothes, I'm working on new painted textile wall pieces, or making miniatures with my kids.”
Adrienne’s hand-painted curtain is meant to be a bright and happy statement for the bathroom,
“I've always had white shower curtains, so it felt like the right time to go in the opposite direction.”
The curtain was created in one sitting and took several hours to complete. Adrienne prefers to mix a variety of fabric paints on textiles to play with consistency for different effects.
