Andre Worrell was born and raised in Trinidad. He grew up drawing and carving, inspired by a mix of African, Amerindian and European culture. Andre moved to NYC in the 80’s which deepened and “added more flavor” to his artistic pot. His love of music (from calypso to reggae and punk) flowed through his work, mixing with politics and race issues.
The "heads" he created for A Quiet Auction are inspired by an old drawing he found recently.
“Back then I was having fun creating characters for our t-shirt [company Peroxide NYC] so I figured I could revisit and update the idea while keeping the linearity and fun aspect alive.”
Currently Andre is living on the North Fork of Long Island with his family. He and his wife Rachel, have created Morgan & Kydd, a lifestyle brand focusing on hand-printed paper goods and the most incredible bath products.
